BlastMagazine.com

Sometime during the early part of this NFL season I stumbled across a local website that I have enjoyed. That website, gcobb.com, lead me to start reading one of their writer’s columns on a regular basis. While I’m not an Eagle’s fan in the least, I do follow the team quite closely. Micah Warren has made that more enjoyable for me, and I’m pleased to learn that he is now the sports editor for BlastMagazine.com. I’ve known Micah for a few years now (didn’t know he was blogging though), and I think that you will like his writing style and sarcastic nature. If you enjoy my stuff here, you’ll also be pleased to learn that I’ll be contributing to his new blog from time to time as well. I’ll be sure to post links when I do. I’ve already linked his blog on the left, Blast Magazine Blog, and I encourage you to check it out often. As it’s a new site, please be patient, but please let me know what you think about it.

Philip Rivers Speaks Out About Speaking Out?

It’s been pretty well documented over the past season that Philip Rivers likes to talk it up a little. While there has been much debate and criticism from the pundits, you have yet to get my moronic thoughts on it. I have mixed feelings, to tell the truth. Part of me screams at Philip to shut his pie hole, while the other finds it a little refreshing to see a QB wear his emotions on his sleeve like that. I’d rather he was fired up and bumping his gums than sitting on the bench completely disinterested (see one Eli Manning during any loss his team suffers). AP writer Bernie Wilson penned a nice piece on Philip’s jawing that I stumbled across while searching for something else.

Clemson 70 - NC State 54

Last night at Littlejohn Coliseum, the Wolfpack of NC State once again showed why this team is destined to be sitting at home in March.  There will be no NCAA bid for this team, nor will it be deserving of a bid to the vaunted NIT.  It’s over, Johnny.   As the game was not available in my market, I can’t break down what I witnessed, because I didn’t witness anything.  However, from the reports that I am getting, it sounds like more of the same.

To compound the bad news, it looks like McCauley could be lost for the year.  He injured his right ankle while fighting for a rebound with about 1:15 left in the game.  Yes, you read that correctly, he was fighting for a rebound with a little over a minute to go in the game.  As one of the few players who have shown any heart on this team, it is ironic indeed that he would get shelved due to an injury on a hustle play.  We should know more about the injury later today, I would imagine.

Wolfpack Basketball = Futility

A few years ago I went to Madison Square Garden to watch the Wolfpack play St. Johns. I thought I would never see another half of basketball as poorly played as the first half of that game. It appears I was dreadfully mistaken. I’ll give credit where it is due, as the Tar Heels played what I felt was a fantastic defensive scheme that completely exploited the Wolfpack’s weaknesses. That being said, the Pack sure didn’t do themselves any favors by missing wide open layups. It began with a miss by Javi Gonzalez on a very easy layup. It ended with the final buzzer.

It’s State/Carolina Part 1

Sidney in Red

Today marks the start of ACC play for the Wolfpack of NC State. One big problem, though, is that they face the #1 ranked Tar Heels of UNC. Despite the fact that the odds are stacked against the boys in red, I’m remaining optimistic about their chances. The reason for this optimism is last years showing against the Heels. State played them tough all three times, and could have won all three games. In the end, they only won once, but they showed that they could play with Heels when everyone seemed to think that they couldn’t.

The BCS is Complete BS

I have always fancied myself a playoff guy where college football is concerned. Sure, the bowl games are fun, but we never know who the real national champion is, do we? Now we do, thanks to the good old BCS. Or do we? What good has really come of the BCS? In my opinion, not very much.

My thoughts on what is wrong and how to fix it after the jump. Continue reading ‘The BCS is Complete BS’
