Pryor close to deciding.

Looks like Terrelle Pryor is going to wind up at either Ohio State or Michigan.  We’ll find out for sure later this week.

Best Sunday of the Year?

Today is going to be awesome. Not only do we have the finals in the conference tourneys today, we also have the Selection Show. I can’t wait to see how wrong I am. I also have my fantasy baseball draft today, so I’ll finally be able to post some FB info for you (I can’t now because some of the other managers in my league are readers). And then on HBO tonight we get the first installment of John Adams. My advice to you today is to turn off your computer and enjoy the show that today will be.

Bubble Alert – March 15th, 2008

Sorry for the lack of updates the past few days. A lot has happened, and I’m going to attempt to bring you back up to speed.

Now that the major conferences are all in the semis, we have a pretty clear picture of the bubble teams’ fates. With Selection Sunday coming tomorrow, I’m ready to try and predict who will get in, and who will be left at home.

Kaz Matsui Update [Alyssa Milano update too (updated)]

Earlier in the week we learned that Kaz Matsui was having some slight issues with his “lower back”. Well, according to MLB.com it’s gotten worse for the guy, and he’s going under the knife. This entire thing is somewhat puzzling, but only because of the timing of everything. Apparently Matsui was originally scheduled to go under the knife this coming Thursday, but Matsui asked it to be moved up to Monday. Recovery time is alleged to be about two weeks, with the second week being “rehab” of sorts.

The puzzling thing, to me, is why they haven’t already cut him. He’s been out a week already, and now will miss two more. Three weeks of Spring training just went right out the window, or to make an intentionally bad pun, they went right into the, um, yeah. If it were up to the Astros, though, Kaz would have been out over four weeks. Kaz, stop listening to the Astros, they aren’t making sense. Go directly to the doctor and get this thing behind you. Matsui is coming off his best year since coming to the US, and should be owned in all fantasy leagues. It would be a shame to see this injury derail his year. Seeing as he is a speed guy, I’m just a little concerned about his stolen base value at the moment.

Done.

Luckily, I had to work today. Otherwise, I would have been forced to sit through another horrible performance by the Pack.

Miami 63, NC State 50

The post game audio should be interesting on this one. When I find it I’ll throw it up. If anyone has a link to it, please share. One quick look at the box score will show you that other than Hickson and Horner, no one else on the team brought any game to Charlotte.

850 has some audio up now.

Bubble Alert – March 12th, 2008

Big sighs of relief were heard throughout bubbleland last night, as Butler, Western Kentucky and Oral Roberts took care of business and reserved their spots in the NCAAT.  Tonight we turn our attention to the Big Sky Conference where #1 seed Portland State will take on #2 seed Northern Arizona.  I don’t see either team making the tournament without the automatic bid, so it looks like the bubble teams can rest easy tonight as they prepare for their conference tourneys.

Bubble Alert – March 11th, 2008

I told you March would start off with a bang, and it certainly has not disappointed. With the smaller conference tournaments in full swing, it’s time once again to visit the bubble situations.

Some Things Should Be Kept Quiet – Updated (2)

This is exactly why hockey has the injury reports correct. There is no need for anyone to know this:

Kaz Matsui will miss four to five days with an anal fissure.

That’s an unnatural tear or crack in the anus skin, for those of you not in the know. Matsui is expected to be out until at least Friday. Anal fissures can become chronic problems, but the Astros hope using a different medication will sooth Matsui’s issue.
So many inappropriate things to say, so little time to say them. I’m begging for comments on this one.
Hat tip to Rotoworld.com, as the quote is pulled off of the best sports news site I am aware of. And yes, that is an old picture of him, but it is a chance to put Alyssa Milano on my blog.

Bubble Alert – March 7th, 2008

Last night was huge for college basketball. Not only did UCLA come back from as many as 14 down for the game (and an 11 point deficit with under 6 minutes to play) to win in overtime over Stanford (UCLA 77, Stanford 67), but we also saw two bubble teams play games that were crucial to their NCAAT hopes.

Streak This!!

I stumbled across this last night on ESPN.com.  Apparently this guy thought it was a good idea to get nekid and run across the field.  Judging from the video, it was not a wise decision.
