It has been a while since we called anyone a douche bag, so I guess that means this is overdue. It looks like Nick Swisher told Ken Rosenthal that Joe Girardi the best manager he has ever worked under. Seems that some guy in Chicago took offense to it. Hit the jump for more.
Ozzie Guillen has stepped out of character and flown off at the mouth. What? He flies off at the mouth all the time? Seriously, what is dude’s problem with that? No filter between his brain and his mouth? So what did he say this time?
In fairness to Guillen I am going to throw up Swisher’s quote as well.
Swisher: “Never want to play for anybody else. There’s just something about him, man. He brings everybody together. Best manager I ever played for.”
Guillen: “He’s got to say what he’s got to say. He was talking about people he’s only known for two weeks . . . but that’s Nick.
“I’m not pretending to be the best manager. I never will. But I guarantee that I will manage a lot longer than he will play. That’s all I can say. And I’ve got more friends in baseball than I have enemies.
“Some people can’t handle the way I manage. It’s not easy. When you manage you have to deal with 25 to 50 people every year to make people happy. You can’t. But it’s easy when you hit .350 or .390, everybody is a good manager.”
All I can picture is the SNL Weekend Update skits, Really, with Seth and Amy. I mean, really Ozzie? You really felt the need to respond to that? Did a reporter ask you something that directly that prompted this response? Talk about someone who needs to get over themselves. It should be noted that I do like Ozzie and his flareups, because of the comedic value they hold. It does not preclude him from being called out though, especially when he acts like a douche.

Amen on Ozzie. Swisher has changed the attitude in the Yankee clubhouse this year. A welcome, needed change, that I hope will loosen everybody up some. Or at least till A-Rod comes back. I enjoyed him giving the line up before Saturdays game. The bleacher bums have adopted him, but only as long as he continues to hit.
I like Girardi. Thought he did a heck of a job with Florida.
