Russell Wilson is the 3rd Best Player in the ACC?

Well, according to Heather Dinich he is. Of course, here in Wolfpack Nation we feel that he is the best player in the entire country, but what do we know? He has only played one year under center for the Pack, and he already holds the record for most passes thrown without an INT. As a matter of fact, he only threw one to the enemies last season overall. Hopefully his time playing baseball this Summer does not effect his ability to find the open man or thread the needle. Of course, if it does, Mike Glennon is willing, ready and able to step in.

Wilson is only the 3rd member of the NC State football team to make Heather’s list of the top 50 players in the ACC, joining Willie Young at #9 and Nate Irving at #19. Expect the number of Pack players on this list to increase next Summer, as head coach Tom O’Brien is tearing up the recruiting trails and building his program the right way. The trenches are going to be a battle in the future, and the ex-Marine knows something about winning in the trenches.

NC State 5th Ranked QB Corps?

Well, according to Matthew Hayes of The Sporting News they are. He has Florida at number one, followed by Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi and then the Wolfpack of NC State. He only has one sentence about the Pack, and claims that Mike Glennon may steal the starting job from Russell Wilson. That would not make Todd very happy, or our good friend Heather Dinich, who pointed us to this link to begin with.

If you are counting, that is two straight entries thanks to Heather.

Russell Wilson…how do I love thee, let me count the ways…

One is for the total number of interceptions you threw last year…

Two is for the place you have in my heart (just behind Lynda Carter)

Three is what would happen if you and Lynda stopped by my place…

But enough about Wonder Woman…this is about you and me. Oh Russell, the scouting report was not promising last year, we all thought you would be too inexperienced and a bit short. Then add that teensy concussion and I thought my affair with you would be brief, like all the others. Evans started strong but his charm wore off quickly and Beck, well I just can’t be with a colorblind man. But you…oh I love how you stand tall in the pocket and you’re quick, nay wily when the pressure’s on. Before I know it, you’re out, you’re free and I can’t wait to see what you’re going to do with my ball. But one thing is certain, you won’t just give my ball to any other man…but the right man. Even if you can’t connect, I know you’ll hold my ball tight and find the nearest sideline to take a breather. Your chest heaving from your exertion and the hot trickles of your sweat on my ball makes me feel secure in putting my faith in you…Russ. Can I call you that? Russell seems so formal and I feel like…well after you’ve handled my ball so well…that we’re on much closer terms…Russ. Do you agree? I hope so. I must confess that I’ve had your poster on my wall and I stare at it before going to bed each night. This offseason has been tough, but I’m a patient fan…hell I pull for NCSU. I’ll wait for you Russ. I’ll wait for the day that I can once again give you my ball and sit in giddy anticipation of enjoying your swift yet intentioned motions and your strong grip on my ball. Big tip of the hat to Heather Dinich for emailing me about this article at StarNewsOnline. Okay, Heather did not email me, but she did link to the article in yesterday’s ACC Lunchtime Links. Great read on Wilson, who wants to play both football and baseball professionally. At 5′11″ tall, playing QB in the NFL will be a tough task, but if anyone can do it it just might be Russell Wilson. The more I hear of this kid, the more I like him. You will not find a guy more grounded than Wilson, as displayed in this interview by our good buddy Joe Ovies over at 850 the Buzz. When do we start the Heisman campaign?

Glennon Expects to Win Starting Job for NC State

Heather Dinich has a nice, quick read about Mike Glennon. Basically, Glennon has bulked up and worked on his release point and footwork. The game has “slowed down” for him, and he expects to compete for the job of staring quarterback at NC State next season. That is a hard goal to reach, when you consider that Russell Wilson is arguably the best quartback in the ACC. And no, Glennon will not leave if he does not start this year. With Wilson being a baseball player first, this next season may very well be his last on the gridiron.
